Happy Holidays to all of you from all of us at The Met! We know money is tight right now, and we have a solution to help trim your holiday shopping budget. Most of our gift ideas are under $20, high quality, and unique. Consider a pound of fresh locally roasted coffee. How about a Met Mug? Starting at less than $20.00, a Met Mug gets you a free drink right away. Thereafter, every drip coffee is ONE DOLLAR! These mugs really stand out and are made of double walled stainless steel to keep your drink warm for hours.

Met Coffehouse Gift Card

For those of you haven’t discovered our webstore store; Check it Out! We carry a huge selection of Mara Stoneware, the same kind we use for our coffee drinks at The Met. If you love our Mara Mugs, you will be amazed by the wide selection of other functional pottery that Mara produces. Everything from complete dinner sets, to water pitchers, to decorative tiles. If you’re having trouble deciding on a holiday gift for that special, hard to shop for someone, consider buying them a Met Gift Card. And, don’t forget the hip Met Shirts our Baristas wear. Both are available on our webstore.

New Years Eve fireworks

In Community News: The Met, as part of The North Conway Village Committee, has been working hard to bring back a New Year’s Eve Celebration to North Conway Village. Participating businesses will be open later and offering special promotions. Don’t miss Los Heuvos at The Met; a live acoustic folk/rock duo playing from 7:00pm to 9:30 pm. It’s free! It’s Rockin’! Right after the music step outside The Met and gather around Schouler Park for a dazzling fireworks display to ring in the New Year.

Congratulations to all of the local bike groups! The Conway Selectman have recently approved designated motorcycle parking at the entrance to Norcross Circle along the south side of The Met. Work will be done on boxing in and signing the spaces this spring. Well done!

In Catering News: Don’t forget that The Met caters. Think of us around the holidays. Offer your employees a catered Met Breakfast or Afternoon Delight. Order bagels, muffins, scones, cookies, brownies, or tea breads and an airpot or two of freshly brewed micro roasted coffee for less than a dollar a cup. We’ll even deliver locally! Free! In “Met Baristas Rule” News: We receive many comments about our fantastic Met Baristas. Why not let them know? Send them a line through the comments section of our website. We’ll post your comments around The Met and have a drawing and send three winners a great thank you prize for participating.

When you’re out there in the hustle and bustle of the holidays and feel your stress level rising at times, take a deep breath and send a thought or prayer out to our service men and women. If you can, don’t miss an opportunity to thank them for their service in person. It’s not political. It’s the right thing to do. Besides, it will help put things in perspective.

Wishing you all happiness, peace, and good neighborliness this holiday season. And thank you for supporting The Met Coffee House!

Howard Stanten and Erin Wright, Owners.

The Met Wins Big at Business to Business Expo 2009

The great work of The Met management team has paid off once again as The Met brought home two awards from the 11th Annual Business to Business Expo recently held at The Mt Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods.

Dianne Mello

Dianne Mello, our stellar manager, won the Fledgling Young Employee of The Year award sponsored by The Mt Washington Valley Young Professionals. Congratulations Dianne!! No one deserved it more.  Click here to read her nomination letter.

Christian Ganem and Brandy Hewitt teamed with Dianne to win The Exhibitor Award for Best Use of Theme.  This year’s theme was “People, Planet, Profits.”  As you can tell from the picture, the booth they created looked fabulous. Central to The Met’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for its employees, its local community, and the world.  Our booth this year highlighted The Met’s efforts to further reduce its environmental impact by acting in ways that promote environmental sustainability. We proudly use environmentally friendly cleaning products, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and coffee cup sleeves, carriers, and napkins made from recycled materials. This year we have replaced our petroleum based plastic cups with corn-based plastic cups.

These corn-based cups are 100% compostable and will literally dissolve under hot water!  The Met serves all of its in-house coffee drinks in our lead-free ceramic Mara Mugs vs paper cups, producing less waste. And, we offer for sale our signature Met Mugs that are not only reusable but also get you a free drink and $1.00 coffee refills forever.  Many of our coffees, including our custom espresso blend, are organic and fairly traded.  Our decaf is produced via The Swiss Water method that alleviates introducing toxic chemicals into the environment.  We love to talk about this aspect of our business so drop us a comment and let’s get the conversation going.

New Hampshire Magazine Best of 2009

We are ecstatic and humbled to have been chosen by the reader’s of New Hampshire Magazine as “Favorite Coffee House: White Mountains.”  Thanks to all of our fantastic customers for choosing us. And, thanks to our extraordinary baristas who make it all happen, everyday.  On a daily basis, I am energized and frankly, blown away, by the way our employees take responsibility for creating a  world class experience for everyone who walks through our door.  It is a tribute to the kind of people they are.  If you’re planning a trip to The White Mountains and haven’t checked out The Met yet, stop by and see for yourself.  If you have any ideas or suggestions to make The Met an even better coffee house experience, please let us know.  We are, at our core, always looking for ways to exceed your expectations.

Thanks Again,
