The Met Wins Big at Business to Business Expo 2009

The great work of The Met management team has paid off once again as The Met brought home two awards from the 11th Annual Business to Business Expo recently held at The Mt Washington Hotel in Bretton Woods.

Dianne Mello

Dianne Mello, our stellar manager, won the Fledgling Young Employee of The Year award sponsored by The Mt Washington Valley Young Professionals. Congratulations Dianne!! No one deserved it more.  Click here to read her nomination letter.

Christian Ganem and Brandy Hewitt teamed with Dianne to win The Exhibitor Award for Best Use of Theme.  This year’s theme was “People, Planet, Profits.”  As you can tell from the picture, the booth they created looked fabulous. Central to The Met’s mission is to enhance the quality of life for its employees, its local community, and the world.  Our booth this year highlighted The Met’s efforts to further reduce its environmental impact by acting in ways that promote environmental sustainability. We proudly use environmentally friendly cleaning products, compact fluorescent light bulbs, and coffee cup sleeves, carriers, and napkins made from recycled materials. This year we have replaced our petroleum based plastic cups with corn-based plastic cups.

These corn-based cups are 100% compostable and will literally dissolve under hot water!  The Met serves all of its in-house coffee drinks in our lead-free ceramic Mara Mugs vs paper cups, producing less waste. And, we offer for sale our signature Met Mugs that are not only reusable but also get you a free drink and $1.00 coffee refills forever.  Many of our coffees, including our custom espresso blend, are organic and fairly traded.  Our decaf is produced via The Swiss Water method that alleviates introducing toxic chemicals into the environment.  We love to talk about this aspect of our business so drop us a comment and let’s get the conversation going.
